STUDI IN SILICO EKSTRAK BIJI SAGA (Abrus precatorius L.) DALAM MENGOBATI ALOPESIA ANDROGENIK

Abstract


Androgenic alopecia (AGA) is a genetically determined condition. Baldness in men is determined by androgen hormones, whereas in women, androgenic alopecia is thought to be genetically influenced. Currently, there are several medications used to treat AGA. For example, the 5alpha reductase inhibitors, minoxidil, finasteride, and dutasteride, are used to treat androgen-related disorders. Many drugs can be used, but these drugs have some unwanted side effects, for example, impotence (erectile dysfunction), abnormal ejaculation, decreased ejaculate volume, normal sexual function, gynecomastia, testicular pain, decreased muscle growth, and severe myopathy. The use of nature as a hair growth agent has been widely used and several herbal extracts are effective in androgenic alopecia such as sage seed extract. Based on research by Omhare et al., 2019, saga seeds contain campesterol, cholesterol, palmitic acid, linoseric acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, linolenic acid, cycloartenol, betaamirin, β-sitosterol, stigmasterol, trigonelline, and brassicasterol. This in silico test was conducted to see whether the beta-sitosterol, stigmasterol, and brassicasterol contained in the saga (Abrus precatorius) seed extract had the same or even better potency than the positive control, namely minoxidil. From the in silico results using molegro by looking at the results of the rerange score, it can be said that the brassicasterol present in the sage seed extract has better potential compared to beta-sitosterol, stigmasterol, and the positive control, namely minoxidil.
