Abstract

The research was aimed to determine the diversity, species richness and evenness of soil insects based on habitat characteristics in the dry land of Kefamenanu City, North Central Timor, East Nusa Tenggara. The research was carried out on three types of habitat, namely dry land, rivers and lakes using a purposive sampling method. The research was carried out from March-May 2023. Samples were collected by making an insect trap (pitfall trap). Data collection is carried out by documenting specimens in each habitat, identifying them, inventorying them, and analyzing them quantitatively to obtain data on species diversity, species richness, and evenness of insect species. The results of the research show that there are 1567 individuals, 23 species, 22 genera, 17 families, 7 orders in the city of Kefamenanu in three habitat types with a diversity index is medium (H'=2.261), the evenness index is high (E=0.711), the richness index is low (R=3.126), and the dominance index is low (0.167).
