Pengaruh Suhu Terhadap Perkecambahan dan Daya Simpan Biji Tampui (Baccaurea Dulcis (Jack) Mull. Arg.) Koleksi Kebun Raya Bogor
Abstract
This study aims to examine the effect of storage duration on the viability, moisture content, and germination ability of Baccaurea dulcis (tampui) seeds, a tropical fruit species endemic to Indonesia and conserved at the Bogor Botanical Gardens. B. dulcis seeds are classified as recalcitrant, meaning they are sensitive to drying and storage. The experiment involved storage periods of 0, 7, 14, and 21 days at room temperature. Observed parameters included moisture content (%), viability (%), and initial germination time (days). Results showed that fresh seeds (day 0) had a viability of 93.33% with a moisture content of 52.50%, and germination began on day 19. However, after 7 days of storage, viability sharply declined to 0% and remained at zero on days 14 and 21. The gradual decrease in moisture content from 52.50% to 48.91% was sufficient to completely eliminate seed viability. These findings indicate that B. dulcis seeds cannot be stored at room temperature beyond zero days due to their high sensitivity to moisture loss. This study confirms the recalcitrant nature of B. dulcis seeds and suggests alternative conservation strategies such as immediate planting, vegetative propagation, or cryopreservation techniques.
